WEEKEND WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
The I Liq Chuan Weekend workshop on December will focus on
The Process of ‘Zhong Xin Dao’ – Cultivating the Neutral Path’.
You will learn – ‘How to Listen’ – ‘Ting’ and ‘How to Feed’ the correct energy to your partner so you can refine both your own and your partners skill level. This is perhaps the most important key to progress in the Internal Martial Arts. Throughout this class you will be building awareness of the Neutral Point and refining the feel of the Neutral Touch in Application. Recognizing the Neutral Half-line to establish offense and defense / full and empty. Direct Knowing through Linking and Reflection.
You will be instructed to clearly feel and access the Three Engagements, (Circle with Center, Center with Center, Center with Cross); with an emphasis on refining the use of Peng Energy – the Internal and External Force Field Spheres of Offense & Defense.
You will learn partner work with Condense & Expand to measure the strength of your opponent’s sphere.
Your training will progress to understand how these conditions interrelate, and recognize and manifest the feel of the furthest point using awareness of Six Directional Energy and Yin & Yang muscle balance.
The I Liq Chuan 5 Element Nei Gung will be covered with emphasis on partner work using the Qualities and Force Dynamics of the 5 Elements within the context of the 6 Physical Points, 3 Mental Factors and the ‘Suchness’ Feel.
In a safe environment you will learn to:
• Maintain the Sphere of Defense while finding the space to strike an opponent
• Generate power from your Feet, through your Body, to your Hands
• Maintaining Fullness at the Point to Recognize the limit
• Place attention on your five senses in order to develop listening power
• Coiling to maintain centers – understanding curved and straight line forces
• Theory and Application of Meet and Match
• Remembering The 13 Points – individual exercises
• Partner training – The point of contact as three points
• Misconceptions about Rooting
• Why it is important to develop a true mobile Root that lightly touches the floor
• Footwork – Maintaining Readiness
• Body Coordination for issuing power (Fa-jing)
• Offering & Mirroring
• Leading your opponents the Mind and Movements
• Strategies For Bridging – Seeing The Body Lines
• Condense and Expand to and from the bones, joints, tendons and muscles

About I-Liq Chuan:
I-Liq Chuan (roughly translated as “mind-body fist”) is an art of cultivating consciousness based on Tai Chi and Chan (Zen) principles of non-assertions, non-resistance, harmony of yin and yang, oneness, and the present moment. As a system of kung fu, I-Liq Chuan emphasizes the development of internal power through mental attitude and awareness. The training develops sticking and merging abilities, circular spiral energy, Chin Na (locking), Fa Jing (projecting force), Chi Kung, and most importantly, integration of the mind’s complete awareness in the present moment. I-Liq Chuan trains the ability to sense the opponent’s intention through awareness and to redirect the force and use it against the opponent or incorporate the use of Fa Jing.
About Grandmaster Sam F.S. Chin: Sifu Sam Chin is an impressive man, an excellent teacher and a kind person.
