Balance and the Berry Method®
by Taum Sayers
“If you understand the force of intelligence in the body, its mechanical operation and structure, you can work on any part of the body you can reach with your hands.”
Lauren Berry Sr. 1917-1983
WHAT IS BALANCE?
Lauren Berry Sr. (the founder) experienced that function and structure were directly related and any improvement in balancing the structure will improve the body’s overall functioning. The primary goal of The Berry Method® is to remove interference and allow the body to use its innate abilities to naturally heal and maintain itself. The Berry Method® provides postural balance a tremendous amount of respect.THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ANATOMICAL BALANCE AND MUSCLE MANAGEMENT
Anatomical balance is the ideal state where the weight of the body rests on the skeleton. In that ideal state the muscles are able to perform their work, then rest and recuperate between tasks while the bodies weight is supported by the skeleton.
The goal of Muscle Management is to learn to enable the muscles to relay information about tension in the body in a manner that is easy to understand, useful and will aid you in your goals of regaining and maintaining your personal physical balance and health.
FURTHER EMPHASIS
The human body performs many tasks that include self-repair, and maintaining its automatic and continuous balanced relationship with gravity.
The Berry Method® of massage is termed “corrective” as the objective is to relieve tension in muscles, tendons, ligaments and correct distortion; thus returning the bodily structure to a healthier state of balance and ease. This includes repositioning and stretching the underlying tissue of the body, and moving the body through its natural range of motion that is often diminished due to adaptive compensation.
