Consultations
Dear Prospective Client,
About the Bodytherapy and Somatics work I practice... and how it can help you...
I facilitate people in the process of making important life changes leading to a new sense of self and a transformed physical experience. I offer you a unique multi-path approach that provides what I have found in my experience to be the best prospects for self healing and
transformation. The tools we use are movement, differentiation and comparison employed within the context of Structural and Functional Methods of Bodytherapy, Movement Education, Chinese & Southeast Asian Health Systems and Internal Arts.
Clients get the results they want. By creating new pathways for sensory motor awareness and fluid movement; you will learn to relieve stress, manage and erase chronic pain, and change habituated patterns of muscle contraction.
An added benefit is feeling poised and confident in your physical appearance, posture, and presence.
My commitment to you is this: the work we do together will allow you to have accelerated results in achieving a powerful, sustainable physical presence that makes an invaluable contribution to your quality of life and your emotional and spiritual well being.
You will learn highly effective and fun Somatic approaches that allow you to maintain the changes of the Structural and Functional work;
and just as important - find out what are the 3 most common mistakes people make that keep them stuck in a recurring cycle and prevent them from living pain free.
Traditional exercise based rehabilitation therapy usually works with problems by strengthening and stretching our large external muscles, or focusing on strengthening the bodies "core". While this may be useful it has not proved to be sufficient; because this method runs directly into the rigidity of your body's compensatory patterns.
I see this everyday in clients who go to commercial gyms. There they train in a way where they focus so much on the external musculature (abs, butt, arms, etc), with little awareness for intrinsic musculature and their deep stabilizing system. Some luminaries in the field of Somatic therapy, myself included - have also suggested that over-emphasis on the external muscles actually weakens our intrinsic musculature in several ways.
Strength is not about the size of a muscle or how many contractile fibers it has, it’s about teamwork and organization of the entire system. We will be working from the inside out; from a brain and nervous system level where the organization of your movement is engendered and patterned.
Through accessing new functional pathways you will be able to build a more effective muscle response, softening the hold of movement rigidity. This will bring about a more complete integration of your proprioceptive and intrinsic muscle patterns; you will feel your body on a deeper level, and dramatically improve your strength coupled with your ability to move and balance.
I ask potential clients to think about the questions below:
What would you like from the experience of us working together?
What will having that experience do for you?
What is important to you about that?
What has been your main challenge so far in achieving the results you want?
What end result will be worth the time and money for us working together?
If you have any questions feel free to call 510-261-4570
Regards,
