Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu Seminar with
 Sensei Roy Goldberg
April 6 & 7, 2019

Picture

We are excited to host Sensei Roy Goldberg for a SF BAY Area ‘Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu’, seminar held on April 6 & 7, 2019
Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu is a 1,200-year-old samurai martial art. It has directly influenced the development of many popular martial arts, such as Aikido, Shorinji Kempo, Hakko Ryu Jujutsu and Hapkido.
Daito Ryu’s core principles and focus on subtle manipulations of balance will complement and enrich any martial arts training.

Once a secret art, passed generation to generation through the Takeda clan, the system of Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu was revived in the late 19th century by Sokaku Takeda, 32nd in line of the Takeda family.
To this day, Goldberg Sensei continues to train under his instructor Kiyama Shihan and he believes that, “in the martial arts, one teaches only to continue his own unfinished study.”

Goldberg Sensei's goal is to preserve, protect and transmit Daito Ryu, the beautiful secret art and National Treasure of Japan, to pass it on to serious students, just as his teacher, Kiyama Shihan shared it with him.

Instructor Bio:

Sensei Roy Goldberg is a 7th Dan Shihan and ‘Kyoju Dairi’, recipient of the third scroll in the Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu Kodokai tradition - "Hiden Ogi" (“Secret Transmission of Hidden Mysteries”). This marks him as one of few in the Daito-ryu school to have received this honor and the only non-Japanese Westerner to have achieved both 7th Dan and the third Daito-ryu scroll.

Since graduation from Columbia college of Physicians and Surgeons Department of Physical Therapy in 1974, Roy A. Goldberg has studied neuroanatomy and its effects on movement with some of the leading practitioners in the field for over 4 decades. Having owned three premier Physical Therapy practices in the New York area, Roy now serves as a consultant to NRPT, and is a designer of exercise equipment. He also serves as an associate professor of Sports Sciences at Long Island University, having taught numerous courses including: Advanced Analysis of Human Motions and Physiology of Exercise. Roy has also been one of the examiners for the NYS Examination for PT licenses. In addition to his vast Physical Therapy knowledge, Roy is an internationally recognized martial arts instructor.

Goldberg Sensei is the East Coast representative of the Daito Ryu Kodo Kai and Senior student of Kiyama Hayawo Shihan. He has also served as an instructor for the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Police Club, where he worked with NYPD Emergency Services Unit (ESU). He also conducted quarterly seminars for the U.S. Special Forces, including U.S.M.C. Force Recon and U.S. Navy Seals. In addition, Goldberg Sensei trained and instructed the Head of Security for the 56th Secretary of State. He currently trains Federal Law Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Goldberg Sensei is also an avid horseman and rock climber and evaluates movement impairment syndromes which can affect a rider’s or climber’s maximum performance. If you have friends or colleagues who climb or ride, who would be interested in this material definitely invite then to the workshop.

Goldberg Sensei has trained over 3 decades with Kiyama Shihan and the leading Shihan from Japan including two Menkyo Kaiden.
